About Me

I write about my dreams because I remember them. Some are complete nonsense and barely memorable, but some are significantly vivid that it's mesmerizing. And because of that I'd like to share them with the world.

Inception

I think the majority of the people who would read my blog would have seen the movie Inception, and if not, you should because it's one of my favorite movies besides Shutter Island, August Rush, any "Pixar" movie, Push, 21, or really any of the Harry Potter movies, but I'm not here to advertise. (However, if you have not read Harry Potter or watched any of the movies. You better. There is no reasoning necessary. In fact, watch all of these movies but make sure to get an "okay" from your parents if you are under 18...just saying.) But anyway, Inception is about a guy (Leonardo Di Caprio) who lives in a world where they have the technology to go inside of other people's dreams and to create their own dreams thereby planting an idea inside somebody's head, thus, "Inception". Hopefully, our technology doesn't get that advanced because that would be down right creepy (but if you want creepy, watch Shutter Island...now that's really creepy), but it seems like our technology is getting so advanced that we are getting around the inception idea. However, we can, as of now, see people's dreams and even record them. The scientists' justification is: to help people remember their dreams. But I think they're crazy, psychotic, nosy people.

I was very uneasy when I read this article because it almost seemed like an invasion of privacy. And I don't really have much to hide living a fairly simple life, but I thought it would be intriguing to share. Not only did the article talk about how psychiatrists in Germany have discovered a way to read "lucid" dreams but they mentioned how this was a "step up" from being able to read people's minds while they're awake.
...
So let's get this straight, we already have the technology to read each other's minds? Maybe this isn't new to everyone but this is a breaking news to me. By doing MRI's and near-infrared spectroscopy, they could monitor heat patterns in the brain allowing to put together the images that people saw when they dreamed. Because the activity in the dreaming brain - with the hot and cold parts - were the same of an awake person, scientists can match the activities to understand what the dreamer is doing/seeing in the dream.

Those in the University of California, Berkeley found a way to track the blood flow through the brain's visual cortex in order to recreate images in the mind. The article has a few examples of how the do this process.

I really don't know what to think of this, whether it is an incredible advancement in technology or a just a messed up way that now gives us the opportunity to look into each others minds. If anybody has seen Inception, they know how that can be a problem.
Here's just one video that is a couple of years old of how the Japanese were able to do this but a lower level. Now I wonder how much farther they have gotten in this project:

I guess thinking about it is kind of cool but in a weird way. It wouldn't matter to me too much if my dreams were sketchily scanned by an unknown source, however I think I would notice going into a huge, white MRI tunnel, because well, I already share my dreams publicly. However I don't think the world would be as ecstatic. But who knows, maybe the people in the video are right and this will be a new form of communication. Maybe this will be the new Facebook.
Yeah. But then again, as ifNobody tops Mark Zuckerburg.
That's just life.

(Oh and for some reason blogger decided to highlight my blog. Kinda special, but I don't know how to get rid of it so it will be a nice change.)

Dreaming about Washing Machines. Yeah.

http://www.washing-machine-wizard.com/images/washingmachine2.jpg
So a friend of mine had a curious dream about....washing machines. She asked me what it meant like I was some   dream guru or whatever so I told her I'll look it up. Here went nothing. Strangely after looking up washing machine dreams in Google and surpassing the "Get the Washing Machine of your Dreams!" I was able to find a list of sites that talked about this very ...interesting dream. In fact it came up with a list of "W"-word dreams. Ahem: washing bowl, washboard, washerwoman, washing, wasp, waste, wastebasket (where the site so nicely reminds us to look up garbage can), water balloon, water fountain. The list kind of continues forever.  But unlike the other dreams that I've mentioned in the blog that simply remind you that you have annoyance in your life, washing machine dreams "suggests that you need to resolve issues of the past in order to be able to make a clean, new start for yourself." So at least this kind of dream is somewhat...helpful. I told this to my friend who nodded, thought I was little crazy, and we carried on with life. So the moral of the story is, your dreams CAN be helpful, if you have them and if they're about washing machines. But that chance for that is just a LITTLE slim. But now that I have discovered the W list of dreams, I think I'm going to read about finding washboards in my dream so just when it happens, I'm prepared. :)

Ahhh it's After Me!!!

I ran with my feet pounding hard away at the cement sprinting to the top that didn't exist. I was in one of those public parking garages that kind of spiral up and I was running away from "THE WALL", cue scary music now. There was a crowd behind me running away and unlike most garages it didn't have those open spaces on the sides where you can look out and see how far you are from the ground and maybe spit to test the distance. Yeah, no it was a spiraling black tunnel so basically nothing like my garage analogy. Anyway, as I was climbing higher and the crowd was moving forward behind me a wall kept closing in preventing from us having to go out. We had to keep running or the wall would just crash and crush us. So we kept running being chased by a solid CEMENT wall and the only hope that we got was that maybe, POSSIBLY, there was an opening at the top. If there was a top.

So we all have the Chasing Dream. And for those who don't know what that is, that's a dream where you're being chased by something, someone, etc. Kind of self explanatory. These dreams are stemmed from anxiety  in your life and running away, like many dreams I've tried to explain, are because we are running away from the attacker or a problem. Sometimes the chaser represents someone or something in your life and sometimes it represents a character trait of yours. These traits: jealousy, anger, rage, etc are types of rejected characteristics of yourself.

Some people are in a different scenario where they are the ones chasing something. This can mean that you are ambitious and are looking to follow something or to get to something, perhaps a life dream of yours. Sometimes chasing in your dreams can mean that you need to catch up to something or that you're falling behind in society. That's sad.

When having chasing dreams it is very important to understand or uncover the closeness your pursuer is to you. If they are gaining on you, then this could mean that you cannot run away from your problems. If you are at a good distance this could mean that you have enough room to get away and that you're problems are fading away. That's a relief! If you're hiding from your attacker and he doesn't find you then you are in a good position with facing the problem, though it is not yet resolved.

So this is my advice that, of course, everyone wants to hear: when you're getting chased in your dream find a good bush, perhaps a comfortable bush that grows lots of good food and hide there for a while. Maybe your attacker won't find you and you're problems are almost solved! If you are found, then... good luck.
